It was with great disappointment to learn this past week that our grant proposal in support of our wildlife corridor was not selected for funding.
In April, I submitted a preproposal for a grant from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Out of 139 submissions, ARC was among only 19 organizations invited to move to the next round — an exciting milestone for us. Throughout June and July, our team poured their hearts into crafting a detailed proposal that told our story: who we are, what we do, and why it matters. We included data highlighting our impact, maps of our reforestation zones, and pages detailing our wildlife corridor. We were incredibly proud of what we created. And incredibly disappointed with the result. But we must carry on!
And so this brings me to the part of my role as President and Founder that I find the most difficult — reaching out to you, our dear supporters, to ask for your help. Your generosity has carried us through so many challenges.
Now we need your support once again to cover our on-the-ground costs in 2026. In the coming weeks, we’ll be launching a formal fundraising campaign. It would mean the world to begin that campaign with gifts already pledged — a powerful show of solidarity that reminds me I am not alone in protecting the Amazon.
From my heart, thank you for standing with me — through the triumphs and the disappointments. Your belief in what we do keeps our spirits strong and our mission alive. Together, we are giving the Amazon — and all who depend on it — a fighting chance for the future.
