June 1, 2026, was a very significant day for us!
Amazon Rainforest Conservancy Northern Peru (ARCNP) has just signed a conservation agreement with the regional environmental authority of San Martín, Peru. Under this agreement, ARCNP is responsible for monitoring, protecting, and conducting scientific research across 1,730 hectares within the Cordillera Escalera Regional Conservation Area.

Cesar, Jorge, Cindy, Juanito and Aristides celebrate the new land agreement (while Lucas holds down the fort back at Tapir Wasi)
Why does this agreement matter?
This 1,730-hectare area is directly adjacent to the 226.5 hectares already owned and protected by ARCNP. As a result, the total area under our stewardship and conservation management has increased dramatically, representing a major step forward in securing habitat connectivity and long-term protection for wildlife in this critical landscape.
Furthermore, this agreement is a strong endorsement of ARCNP’s conservation work and demonstrates the confidence that local authorities have in our ability to protect and manage these important ecosystems. It also creates new opportunities for collaboration and positions ARCNP as a key partner in the conservation of the Cordillera Escalera region.
More Good News

Thanks to your support, we successfully unlocked the $25,000 matching donation to help fund the purchase of our next conservation property. Our current focus is a 40.7-hectare parcel that is critically important for jaguar conservation and habitat connectivity within the wildlife corridor. The matching funds have brought us significantly closer to securing this property. We are continuing to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the purchase.
Every step forward helps us protect more habitat and strengthen a landscape where wildlife can move, thrive, and coexist with local communities.

With Gratitude
